Lil Kim vs. Nicki Minaj: Eve Speaks (Snagged From You Heard That New)

Eve’s had about enough of Lil Kim’s antics. The philly spitter, who was a visitor on Tim Westwood’s radio program with guest host Kerry D recently alongside Bun B who both were out in the UK for the Gumball 3000 Rally, spoke briefly about the petty match between Nicki and Kim and how jealousy is truly a female trait.

The First Lady Of Ruff Ryderz explained to Kerry D, “You know, it’s definitely a nice group of females that’s out representing, but because I come from hip-hop, I need more females in hip-hop,” said Eve. “Nicki definitely is holding the flag down, and a lot of people be wanting me to hate just because that’s how girls supposed to do in hip-hop, but I’m loving everything she does. But we need more females, man. There’s too much testosterone in the hip-hop game.”

Eve then turned her attention to how she would’ve handled Lil Kim if they were in the same circle. “I need her to stop. If I was Kim’s friend, I’d be like, yo. ‘cause she’s Kim, period,” said Eve. “So she never has to feed [into the beef]. She shouldn’t. It’s bad. It’s not a good look. If I was her friend, I’d tell her, yo, just come back bigger and better. The best way to get at people is to do you better than you’ve ever done you. So that’s it.”

Welp, to bad Eve’s not in her circle because if she was, I’d probably wouldn’t be writing this post and Kim would be a bit more focused than she already is.

Heezy Was Here: Maybach Music Pt. 2

"I like this Maybach Music" is the line spoken sexily by a female on the intro to "Self Made Vol. 1", hip hop's new found dream team's first collaborative effort, and it sums up my feelings about the project. With Lex Luger, Beat Billionaire, Just Blaze, and many other heat makers producing; and rhymes from the MMG regulars (Pill, Wale, Meek Mill, Rick Ross), as well as guest appearances from J. Cole and Jeremih this project had a very high bar set for it before I even took a listened to it but by track 3 (Tupac Back) I was doing a smooth 85 in my car rockin hard. That's the kind of music you will hear on this project; good ol' head bobbin, sh!t talkin rap but you also have tracks like "That Way" and "Play Your Part" with smooth melodic beats to cruise thru the hood to. Laid on top of these beats are brash, aggressive, and borderline hotile verses of how fly the MMG crew is and how they shut clubs down and even a few laid back bars explaining how yo girl will be persuaded to leave with a MMG repper (most of those are from Wale). Its an all around good piece of art; the songs don't tell a story but the flow well, the production is of the highest quality, and the raps are superb. With this leading off the summer rush of music I say MMG has an early lead.

Heezy Was Here: Maybach Music

With the number one draft pick in the 2011 rap draft, Maybach Music takes....Wale! Was this the move that sealed the deal? Or was it Meek Mill? Or was it Pill? Maybe Teedra Mosses. Or was it the fact that Rick Ross even fathomed this organization. 2010 was all YMCMB with Nicki Minaj, Drake, and even Tyga showing up and showing out; will MMG do the same this year?? With the major success of Ross in 2010 that has seemingly carried over into 2011 (Ross is EVERYWHERE) and these signings MMG is set to go IN this summer and the rest of the year. If tracks like Lex Luger powered "That Way" and J.Cole assisted "Fitted Cap" are foreshadows of what's to come it will be a long year for other crews (including MMG affiliated team YMCMB). The upcoming release of "Self Made", the MMG collab EP, will definitely tell us if the prediction of Maybach Music: 2011 Crew is accurate. I would hope so with artists like Wale with his semi-braggadocios yet ultimately conscious flow and Ross and Meek Mill with their heavy "I'm Me B!tch, Who Are You?" way of talkin sh!t to their competitors all rapped up with Pill's edgey delivery of punch-lines and metaphors sets them up for hit after in-house hit. We shall see though (#NP That Way)

Heezy Was Here: Big Sean

Signed fresh out of High School to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music, Sean Anderson was the definition of a freshmen phenom, but one with no buzz; so he did what a G.O.O.D. artist would do, he created his own buzz...launching a blog, dropping mixtapes, doing weekend recaps...all the dirty work A&R's should do Sean did it himself along with his Finally Famous running mates. Now in less than a months Big Sean is set to drop his first studio album "Finally Famous: The Album"...but after years of delay's, tracks being leaked, and now the fact that he has to battle Hip Hop veteran Lil Wayne will it be as successful as it could or should be?? I think so, I may be biased seeing as how Sean and I are from the same city and went to the same high school, but its more than that; look at the career Sean has made for himself and the fan loyalty he has. Sean has attacked many demographics and many markets and has done so efficiently from the college scene, the pop scene, and of course the true hip hop fans; Big Sean has reached all of these setting him up for major iTUNES downloads, major air play, and plenty of shows. Will he out sale Wayne? Probably not! But will he kick the door in and make even more of a impression on the game? Most Definitely
